Mackinac Island

Hello everyone,

This week I chose Mackinac Island as my first travel idea. It is located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsula on Lake Huron. This is a place I have already had the pleasure to visit. My favorite time of year to go to Mackinac Island is the fall when the leaves begin to change. It makes for gorgeous scenery and provides perfect weather for an array of activities. It also makes for a great drive with lots to see on the way.

Mackinaw is about 4.5 hours from the greater Detroit area and well worth every minute. Once you get to St. Ignace, it is a must to stop at Clyde's Drive Inn to have an amazing burger cooked fresh in front of you and a chocolate shake to wash it down. Once you arrive to Mackinaw City, there are several places before or after you cross the bridge to choose a ferry which will be your mode of transportation to get onto Mackinac Island.

Once on the island, the best mode of transportation is a bicycle or horse and carriage for there are no cars allowed on the island. There are many activities to participate in including biking, hiking, horseback riding, carriage rides or walking along the waters of Lake Huron and enjoying many of the breathtaking views the island provides. There are also many historic landmarks and tours to experience. I hope everyone gets the chance to visit at least once. The food is to die for and don't forget about their world famous fudge.
